Chicken a La King
I used to cook this a lot for me and my companion when I was in my mission. It is really simple! Serving a mission, and now college life, are no different when it comes to food. We starve in both if we don't eat right and choose cost effective ingredients! You can make this for cheap thinking that even a poor and starving LDS missionary can make it. LOL Enjoy!
Ingredients
Directions
Sauce
- A can of cream of mushroom
- 2 - 3 slabs of chicken breasts (chopped in cubes)
- Chopped onions (use the whole onion)
- 3 - 4 cloves of garlic (minced)
- Milk or water
- Green peas or corn (or both)
- Spaghetti noodles
- Vegetable or canola oil
- Chopped green bell pepper (Its up to you if you want to use the whole thing, but I don't)
- Grated cheese (mexican is my favorite)
Directions
- Start cooking your noodles.... I suppose you know how to cook this right?
Sauce
- Saute garlic in oil, then toss in the onions
- Add 1/2 of your chopped green bell pepper, and save the rest later.
- Add chopped chicken breasts in and let it cook (use your best judgment)
- Immediately add your can of cream of mushroom (save your can, you'll need it later)
- Set your burner to medium heat. Stir it occasionally to keep it from sticking to your pan. Let it sit and simmer for a couple of minutes.
- Now here's a little trick... if you want your sauce to be thicker, add a can full of milk. If not, use 2/3 can of water instead. Let it boil for a few minutes while stirring it occasionally.
- Add your remaining green bell pepper
- You can add your green peas / corn or both according to your preference
- Drain noodles and put it into a 9x8 dish
- Pour sauce on top of noodles
- Cheese it up generously!
